 Position Summary:

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering seeks applicants to fill an academic staff position for instruction of General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or Industrial Engineering Courses. The start date is January 6, 2019, for the Spring semester, with a possibility of renewal for the following academic year. 

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of this position is undergraduate teaching in a live classroom setting, and/or via delayed streaming video. Particular department needs include instruction of engineering economy, engineering project management, and entry-level courses in mechanics, mechanical, and industrial engineering, however candidates who can teach other higher level courses in these areas or other subject areas will be considered.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Master's degree or higher in Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Ability to teach some selection of UW-Platteville’s engineering courses.
  • A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and undergraduate activities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

 

  • Prior experience teaching undergraduate courses in engineering.
  • Industry experience in Engineering.

Department Information:

Mechanical Engineering is the largest of UW-Platteville’s ABET-accredited programs with an enrollment of approximately 1,200 and 28 faculty and staff. The main program is housed on the UW-Platteville campus with additional sites at UW-Fox Valley and UW-Washington County. The Industrial Engineering program has an enrollment of almost 180 students and 5 faculty and staff.

 

The College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (EMS) enrolls approximately 3,350 students in ABET-accredited BS degree programs in Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical and Software Engineering, and Engineering Physics and BS degrees in Mathematics, Broad Field Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Sustainable and Renewable Energy Systems. The College of EMS also offers a statewide Engineering Partnership program that allows place-bound undergraduate students to complete their BS degrees in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering with minimal travel. In addition, UW-Platteville has an online Master of Engineering program, which has been designated as a “Best Buy” in online education. Students in the MS program may choose a technical emphasis in Engineering Design, Applications in Engineering Management, Control (Electrical) Systems, or Structural/Geotechnical Engineering.

 

 

Campus Information: The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, founded in 1866, enrolls about 8,000 students in 42 baccalaureate and 6 master's programs.
