Position Summary:

The Department of Performing and Visual Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor (Director of Bands) to direct the UW-Platteville Symphonic Wind Ensemble. The position will also teach multiple levels of conducting. 

Responsibilities:

Other duties will be assigned based upon the candidate’s abilities and background, and might include:

  • Conducting other bands in coordination with the Associate Director of Bands
  • Conducting the UW-Platteville University/Community Orchestra
  • Teaching in an applied area
  • Teaching general education courses
  • Assisting with the Music Education curriculum

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completed Doctorate or Masters degree with significant professional experience
  • Four or more years directing bands at the collegiate level (not to include teaching assistantships)
  • Evidence of applied or classroom teaching at the collegiate level (not to include teaching assistantships)
  • Excellent communication skills
