Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for designing, coordinating, directing, shooting and editing creative, high-quality videos and still images of people and events for the university's web sites, print publications and social media sites. The primary focus will be marketing the university to prospective students. 

Responsibilities:

Producing Videos

  • Shoot and edit compelling videos for the website, social media, etc. that market UW-Platteville to prospective students and other targeted audiences
  • Edit recorded video, audio, and other materials to meet time, aesthetic, ethical and broadcast quality standards
  • Plan and coordinate with writers, editors, social media and others in Communications to identify appropriate concepts, people and locations for videos assigned

Producing Photos

  • Create and/or work collaboratively with the publications area for the creation of graphics.
  • Plan and coordinate with writers, editors and others in Communications to identify appropriate concepts, people and locations for photos assigned
  • Take multiple photographs as part of each assignment to provide editors and writers with options

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Creative talent and solid technical knowledge and experience of relevant digital equipment and editing software, including Premiere and Photoshop
  • Ability to work with natural, strobe flash and studio lighting to produce high-quality images 
  • Experience shooting with Canon DSLR cameras 
  • Experience producing multimedia presentations, including audio, video and still photography, as well as editing productions
  • Ability to work frequent nights and weekends
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively and meet deadlines
  • Independent problem solving and project management skills
  • Eagerness to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse population
  • Ability to follow direction with a positive attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills

The Communications department is a 19-person department that promotes and markets the university through public relations, social media, photography, publications, printing and mail.
