Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, School of Business seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Business Administration-Finance.  This is a full-time, 9-month basis appointment.  The position starts August, 2019.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to meet traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly work, and service to the university and community.  A teaching load of four classes per semester will typically consist of undergraduate business courses in finance; serving as an academic advisor; developing curricula; engaging in scholarly activity; and providing professional community, school and university service.  The teaching load may be a combination of on-campus courses and distance courses.  Instruction in summer courses may also be available.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A doctorate in finance, business, or related field (ABD acceptable for hire)
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills
  • Ability to deliver effective instruction, including the use of high-value learning practices such as active, applied, and experiential learning
  • Demonstrated potential to conduct scholarly research
  • A willingness to teach in both traditional classroom and distance environments
  • Demonstrated commitment to or experience with diverse and/or underrepresented populations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to teach accounting, economics, or general business courses
  • Experience teaching students at a distance using online, streaming, or other methods
  • At least 2 years of college level teaching experience or 2 years of business experience
  • Credentials or certifications that are relevant to finance, economics, or accounting
