Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking a lecturer to teach in our Health and Human Performance department. This is a full-time, 9-month basis position, offering an excellent employee benefit package. The start date for this position is August 21, 2019.

The Health and Human Performance department offers a major with three emphases: Physical Education teaching license with Health Education minor and Adapted PE certification, Health Promotion-Wellness, and Exercise Science.

Responsibilities:

Instruction will be primarily in health education and health pedagogy courses. Duties will include a 15 credit-teaching load, possibly teaching activity courses to general education students, academic advising, and involvement in the University community.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA from an accredited institution in Health, Physical Education, Health Promotion, Exercise Science or related field
  • Master’s from an accredited institution by August 2019 in an Education Pedagogical related field
  • Must be able to adjust teaching content material for all emphases: Physical Education, Health Promotion, and Exercise Science
  • Ability to teach students pedagogical best practices in all major emphases
  • Great time management skills to maximize teaching and other duties assigned
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to achieve department goals
  • Ability to advise students during registration, portfolio development, course work, and assessments needed by the department
  • Ability to demonstrate responsibility and responsiveness to the needs of the students and department

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years or more experience in PK-12 Elementary, Middle, Secondary, or collegiate teaching health education with a focus on skills based health education
