Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Department of Performing & Visual Arts is accepting applications for an Associate Director of Bands. This is a full-time, 9-month basis, Lecturer appointment, to start August 21, 2019.

Responsibilities:

This position will Direct the University Orchestra and the Symphony Band. Duties will also include classroom instruction, assigned based upon the candidate’s abilities and background. A total 15-credit load per semester could include:

  • Conducting other bands in coordination with the Director of Bands
  • Teaching conducting courses
  • Teaching in an applied area
  • Teaching general education courses

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Four or more years directing bands/orchestras at an elite level at a secondary and/or post-secondary institution
  • Evidence of applied or classroom teaching at an elite level at a secondary and/or post-secondary institution
  • Excellent communication skills
