Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville has an opportunity for a one-year contract position as a Data Modeler. The Data Modeler will assist with modernizing UW-Platteville’s Business Intelligence infrastructure, currently moving to cloud-based ETL and Data Warehouse software.

Candidates should have demonstrated expertise and leadership in data modeling, data consulting, and translating business and functional requirements into logical and physical data models that follow best practices.

This individual is responsible for providing technical consulting support for the analysis, definition, modeling and management of data for automated systems.

This position is physically located on the UW-Platteville campus in Platteville, Wisconsin, with the option of working remotely for the right candidate. 

Responsibilities:

- Optimize, update and maintain logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects, following best practices and university standards.

- Develops solutions and strategies based on the analysis of customer business goals.

- Organize the integration of data and migration activities to enhance operating efficiency.

- Provide status updates to project team in a timely fashion.

- Responsible for data modeling and schema design that will range across multiple business domains within higher education

- Ability to meet tight deadlines

- Work collaboratively in a diverse team environment

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

- 5 years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/related field and 3+ years’ experience

- Experience in Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, Data Marts, ETLs, and Data Transformations

- Experience with analysis of business data requirements

- Experience with data quality, policies or standards

- Experience with the design, creation, and maintenance of relational or dimensional data models

- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills

- Proven analytical and problem-solving traits

- Experience in the following applications preferred but not required:

     - Snowflake

     - Informatica, Talend or IBM DataStage

     - SQL

     - Oracle Database

     - Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition

     - Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
