Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, located in Southwest Wisconsin, is currently recruiting one lead academic custodian (evenings).  The minimum starting salary for lead custodian is $12.59 per hour plus excellent fringe benefits. A six-month probationary period is required. The normal working hours for this position will be 3:30 pm - 12:00 am, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:

Job Duties:

Carry out cleaning operations and organize set­ups as directed by the Program Supervisor to best utilize the manpower available. Daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, washrooms, Clean assigned areas in the academic buildings, assist building Custodians with workload for the day and other general duties as required.   Assemble and move furniture, equipment and deliver supplies to building Custodians.  Operate specialized machinery and work with chemicals.  Fill in for employees on vacation, sick leave or leave of absence.  Fill water softener with salt as needed in any building.

Qualifications:

  • Previous custodial experience preferred
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to follow directions as given by supervisor
  • Ability to identify tasks or issues and address problems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without mechanical assistance
