Position Summary:

The Corporate Relations Director serves as a relations leader and integral member of the University Relation’s team.  Under the direction of the Vice Chancellor for University Relations, the candidate will directly manage a team of three to five and drive increased corporate financial support to the University.  With a full team approach across campus, the Corporate Relations Director develops and advances comprehensive, mutually beneficial relationships with industry and UW-Platteville.  The Director works with executive leadership as well as several departments campus wide.

Responsibilities:

Strategy / Development

- Provide leadership and direction to a team of corporate relations officers and other personnel on a team based on robust accountability measures.

- Develop, update and lead an overall corporate plan for university-wide funding, identify strategies for success based on measurable outcomes.

- Lead internal strategies that connects and builds on university research and educational pathways to customized corporate relationship to aid in cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation of business partnerships.

 

Research

- Using a broad spectrum of sources, this position leads the process of researching, organizing, and evaluating a prospect’s financial capacity, ability and willingness to give, charitable foundation interests, family foundation interests and all connections to the University. 

- Work with the Communications department and Corporate Development Officers to gather data on corporate partners and prospects to track their relationships with University representatives and programs across campus and identify potential future partnerships. 

- Identify companies with strong interest in supporting higher education and/or with UWP alumni in leadership positions,  

- Identify corporate sector trends and innovations that align with research and activities being conducted at UWP. 

 

Communication

- Develop communication strategy that is intentional in conveying the corporate relations research to internal and external constituents. 

- Present reports and data including company overviews, business partnership activity spotlights, and business revenue to all stakeholders.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Philanthropy Studies or related field from an accredited institution.

- 5+ years of work experience in a corporate relations or business development management with revenue generation. 

- Demonstrated track record in development research or prospect research using online information resources. 

- Working knowledge and understanding of corporate relations, fundraising, and donor relations concepts, principles, techniques, procedures, and practices. 

- Knowledge of key information resources, including news, financial, corporate and government sources. 

- Demonstrated proficiency in data collection, verification, and analysis.

- Demonstrated ability to prioritize among a variety of tasks, simultaneously monitor and maintain multiple projects, meet deadlines, and present a positive attitude. 

- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and valuable information.

- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications and proficiency with database systems

- Ability to work independently and with multi-culturally diverse populations.

- Ability to lead a team and interact with other campus entities.
