HVAC Refrigeration Specialist

Position Summary:

Under general supervision of the Branch Campus Facilities Director, this position is responsible for the operation and repair of campus mechanical and HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) equipment with a high level of independence and self-initiation. This position is responsible for the trouble-shooting of building mechanical problems, identifying, correcting, reporting and communicating building operational and maintenance needs, performing specialized repairs on equipment, performing preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment, and ensuring satisfactory operation of building systems to meet the needs of the campus.  This position will also work with maintenance staff at the campus to ensure general maintenance, including grounds work, is completed.

Responsibilities:

-Problem diagnosis, identifying and communicating building maintenance and operational needs. 

-Performing preventative maintenance on building mechanical and operational systems. 

-Maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems.

-Scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance and repair of building plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.

-Grounds maintenance and operational activities.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

-HVAC Certified 

-EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigeration Certification

-Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, plumbing, heating, refrigeration, controls, and other related mechanical systems.

-Prior welding experience 

-Previous experience operating and programming Building Automation Systems

-Previous experience working with electrical systems

-Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.

-Ability to react quickly and make sound independent decisions in an emergency.

-Flexibility and willingness to learn and apply new methods and procedures required from changes in facilities, equipment, retrofitting, technology, priorities, and standards.

-Ability to interact positively and provide outstanding service to fellow campus staff, students, and the general public.

-Awareness of sound safety procedures.

-Previous computer experience; including Microsoft office products.

-Ability to read & interpret plumbing, electrical, and control sequence diagrams.

-Ability to read & interpret building plans and building control sequences. 

-willingness to work in all weather and industrial conditions

-Ability to withstand repeated lifting, climbing, bending, and crawling in tight or confined spaces.
