Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Student Health Services department is accepting applications for a Medical Assistant I. This is a full-time position, offering excellent employee benefits and summers off. This position works in conjunction with the academic year, typically late-August through late-May. Hourly rate is $13-$15 depending on experience and qualifications. 

Responsibilities:

As a vital member of the health care team, the Medical Assistant I serves as a key support for the clinic and front receiving staff. The Medical Assistant I contributes to health care delivery by preparing the patient for the necessary procedure, assessment or interaction with the designated health care provider. The Medical Assistant I is responsible for facilitating clinic flow of patients as well as participating in the activities that involve the receiving and processing of students as they check in at the front desk. Other responsibilities of this position include assisting the Administrative Director with the compilation of clinic statistics.  The Medical Assistant is also responsible for scanning/faxing documents, basic billing, tracking supplies and assisting the Director with gathering clinic statistics.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • BLS/CPR certification 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Competent in use of computer, Electronic Medical Records, & Microsoft Office.
  • Genuine desire to work with adolescent/young adult population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
