UW Platteville seeks Director of School of Education. The Director of School of Education reports to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Education.  The Director oversees recruitment and retention of students and faculty, promotes continuous improvement of teaching and professional development, and advanced academic planning, program development, accreditation, assessment, annual reporting, and fiscal management of the school.

The Director Provides leadership and managerial responsibility for one or more academic program(s), ensuring alignment with the university mission. Directs administrative oversight and academic curriculum development, ensuring optimal integration of student and faculty activities. Ensures resource allocation supports the program's primary objectives. Manages a team of professionals who support the program(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the School of Education by serving on college and university committees, attending state DPI meetings and professional education and licensure meetings
  • Advance academic planning, program development, accreditation, assessment, annual reporting, and fiscal management
  • Oversee recruitment and retention of students and faculty
  • Promote continuous improvement of teaching and professional development of faculty and staff
  • Work collaboratively with the Dean, faculty, students, and staff to create a vision for the continued success and growth of the School of Education
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • Collaborates with faculty members to develop student academic programs and agendas, directs implementation, and creates curricular structure including operational and logistical arrangements
  • Formulates program strategies and goals, directs long-term planning, develops policies and procedures, and establishes and maintains new and emerging program materials
  • Evaluates operations and outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational goals -Serves as the principal liaison between the program, University leadership, and outside entities
  • May provide guidance to faculty regarding funding, staffing, and space implications
  • Develops the unit budget and approves unit expenditures
  • Manages student academic program(s)

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education-related discipline
  • Distinguished academic record in teaching and research
  • Experience working in K-12 schools
  • Experience and/or expertise in teacher preparation and practices
  • Demonstrated administrative leadership in academic setting
    Experience managing budgets.
