Retail/Catering Lead

Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is currently seeking applicants for two Retail & Catering Lead positions. These positions will work in a synergistic and educational environment to provide customer service and related activities in campus catering operations, following established procedures and best practices to assure high quality catering services. The incumbents will be expected to adapt quickly and effectively to daily changes in business needs including increased & decreased guest count, menu substitutions, staffing needs, customer requests, and more. 

These are full-time positions with flexible work schedule with peak dining hours between 10:00am to 8:00pm. These positions will also rotate weekends. These positions offer excellent fringe benefits-medical, dental, paid leave, and participation in the top ranked Wisconsin Retirement System. Starting pay ranges from $18-$21/per hour commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads service for retail venues and catered events
  • Works with catering customers to establish menus, service styles, and other details of catered events
  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
  • Schedules, trains, and guides service staff and bartenders
  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule that includes evenings, nights, and a weekend rotation 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Prior food service experience is a plus
