Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is currently seeking applicants for full-time campus custodians for residence halls and academic buildings. Applicants are needed to fill future vacancies as they occur. Applications will remain on file for six months. The minimum starting salary for a custodial position is $11.92 per hour plus excellent fringe benefits. A six-month probationary period is required. The normal working are year-round, Monday through Friday, day or evening shifts will vary depending on position.

Responsibilities:

This position provides custodial services in student residence halls and academic buildings. Job duties may include but are not limited to cleaning floors, windows, walls and restrooms; operating cleaning equipment; working with cleaning chemicals; assembling and moving furniture and equipment; communicating with other staff to maintain a clean and safe environment, and supervising student workers.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of custodial duties
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to read work instructions and schedules, warning labels and instructions for equipment operation
  • Able to perform repetitive motion tasks (bending, twisting, etc.)
  • Able to use a shovel for snow removal in front of buidlings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous custodial experience
  • Experience operating specialized machinery
  • Ability to prioritize work duties
  • Demonstrated work ethic
