Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, located in Southwest Wisconsin, is currently recruiting for a year-round Groundskeeper position. The minimum starting salary for this position is $11.94 per hour plus excellent fringe benefits. A six-month probationary period is required. The normal working hours for this position are 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:

Job Duties: The position will work in an extremely collaborative educational environment to care year-round for the 326 acres that make up campus grounds.  Campus grounds include approximately 100 acres of athletic fields; lawn and manicured landscaping; 150 acres of woods and prairies; 65 acres of sidewalks, parking lots, and streets as well as 90 acres of land at the Platte Mound (the lands surrounding and extending beyond the “Big M”).  Essential functions of the position include: maintenance of the grounds, snow removal service, maintenance of equipment and signage along with the distribution of all university freight from Central Stores and Receiving.

 

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

-1 year experience with commercial landscape maintenance ( lawn care, planting, spraying, tree management)

-1 year experience with commercial grade snow removal

-1 year experience using and maintaining turfgrass equipment

-Able to lift 50 lbs.

-Computer skills such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, email etc…

 

 

-Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of Horticulture (turfgrass, annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees)
