Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Office of Event Services is seeking applicants for an Events Planning Manager. This is a full-time, twelve month basis position, with evening and weekend hours as necessary. This position reports to the Director of Event Services and supervises several student staff members.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize internal and external functions, conferences, program events, and banquets
  • Serve as staff host at selected events; greet guests and troubleshoot throughout the event
  • Coordinate details of events with campus academic and service units
  • Oversee income and expenses for assigned events
  • Place orders with campus and outside vendors
  • Provide financial reports for assigned events as requested
  • Establish and maintain lists for tracking event acceptances and regrets
  • Assist in coordinating invitations lists
  • Create and produce name tags, place cards, and signs
  • Maintain past event files and records

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Strong knowledge of event planning and production
  • Strong organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing multiple details
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including skill in effectively representing the campus to its publics
  • Sound judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, including skill to determine the issues/problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher level staff and/or management
