Position Summary:

The Department of Residence Life at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking applicants for a Resident Director. This is a full-time, benefit eligible, annual basis appointment, with the period of employment beginning approximately July 17, 2020.

Responsibilities:

A Resident Director (RD) is full-time, live-in professional staff position responsible for the supervision of one residence hall. They work collaboratively in smaller team groups to direct and coordinate various departmental projects. The RD position supervises 8- 20 Resident Assistants and 1-2 Senior Assistants, provides assistance to residents, advises hall government, oversees the facilitation of community development, serves as a conduct hearing officer, assists with University and departmental recruitment efforts, and performs administrative and managerial tasks associated with the hall. This position will involve some evening and weekend work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills
  • Excellent leadership & human relations skills
  • Direct employment experience in a Residence Life setting
  • A demonstrated commitment of working with racially and socioeconomically diverse students are essential qualifications for candidates.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
