University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking a Student Employment Coordinator.

The Student Employment Coordinator will ensure a high level of customer service and compliance for all student employment needs, including recruitment of over 700 student employees per year, onboarding and offboarding for all student employees, and creation and delivery of recruitment training for managers. This role manages the Student Employee Handbook and webpage, and creation of student job description library, posting student employment opportunities and ensuring position falls within the established pay structure. The Student Employment Coordinator will receive, respond to, and resolve all student employment questions and inquiries. May supervise student employees.

The Student Employment Coordinator also provides administrative support to the Human Resources department, including management of the incoming phone lines, central email inboxes, office traffic and other office administrative duties.

This is a full-time position offering excellent benefits and paid leave. Hourly rate is $20.50 - $21.63, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
 

Student Employment Responsibilities:

• Manage full cycle recruitment of student employees
• Coordinate with Financial Aid Office and department leadership on any change in policies and procedures concerning student payroll.
• Process wage increase/title change requests.
• Interpret policies and procedures and explain student payroll procedures, Social Security rules, exemption status and other related matters.
• Act as backup to Payroll Specialist regarding time unit training
• Attend New Student Registration and promote on-campus student employment.
• Manage student employment records, annual reporting and compliance requests: including Student Verification of Employment/Unemployment/Affordable Care Act.

 

Administrative Coordinator Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain various HR specific reports, databases, and/or records to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and legal rules and regulations
• Enter, review, and process HR transactions according to established policies and procedures
• Schedule logistics and secure resources for recruitment processes, onboarding activities, payroll functions, and/or other HR related activities
• Serve as a point of contact to employees, managers, and internal and external stakeholders. Respond to inquiries and escalates more complex issues to the appropriate authorities
• Audit and track compliance for various HR functions such as performance evaluations, onboarding, off boarding, criminal background checks, and credentialing
• Provide project support to Human Resources leadership
• Management of human resources e-mail account(s)
• Event/training coordination
• Assist talent management team with job postings and projects


Requirements:


• Associate's degree and 2 years’ experience as a Human Resources or Office Administrator
OR Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related degree
• Minimum one year office or administrative based experience
• Excellent time management skills, personal sense of urgency in one’s work, and tendency to be proactive
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and engagement, able to adapt to a variety of communication styles
• Highly adaptable and able to easily change priorities throughout the day
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, comfortable learning new systems and applications
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Demonstrated workplace professionalism, including a high personal standard for confidentiality
• Ability to promote a positive and productive work environment
