Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking applicants for a position as Director of College of EMS Student Success Programs. This position is responsible for providing leadership in managing recruitment and retention initiatives for the UW-Platteville College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science. The Director supervises staff and coordinates programs, policies, and operations. On a day-to-day basis, the Director is responsible for managing collaborative initiatives that impact outreach and recruitment, retention, and student success efforts for all students. The Director collaborates and connects with Universities of Wisconsin System, college and campus constituents, and external constituents to leverage and expand program efforts. They work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and others to advance UW-Platteville’s mission and goals.

This is position starts at $72,000 and is a full-time, benefit and paid leave eligible position.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, set objectives, prioritize, and supervise College of EMS recruitment & retention programs.
  • Recruit, oversee, and assess the performance of staff members.
  • Coordinate mentoring and supervision of student employees.
  • Develop and implement systems and controls to manage budgets.
  • Establish, monitor, interpret, and follow departmental policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and objectives.
  • Oversee the daily operations of programs & services.
  • Oversee and direct marketing efforts.
  • Conduct and oversee all program evaluations and assessments.
  • Research and participate in professional development related to student recruitment and retention and serve as a competent. resource of knowledge related to recruitment and retention for all staff and collaborators.
  • Collaborate with EMS faculty and staff and other campus support offices.
  • Evaluate, plan, develop support, and implement additional recruitment and retention programs where appropriate.
  • Coordinate staff participation and participate in the Universities of Wisconsin System, Campus, and College committees associated with recruitment and retention.
  • Participate in relationship building, funding and development activities to assist in enhancing the educational mission of the campus and college, specifically focused on STEM recruitment and retention activities.
  • Oversee the Women in STEM program, and participate in mentoring, advising and support.
  • Attend conferences related to student success in STEM.
  • Research “best practices” of STEM student recruitment and retention and apply knowledge to work duties.
  • Research and participate in professional development related to student recruitment and retention and serve as a competent resource of knowledge related to recruitment and retention for all staff and collaborators. 
  • Represent the College of EMS to the university and the community.
  • Serve as the liaison by collaborating with internal and external stakeholder groups and providing organizational information.
  • This position may involve work expectations outside of normal UW-Platteville office hours; e.g. night hours, weekend commitments, travel out-of-town, etc.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated skill set to successfully manage student-based programs in an education institute.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledgeable in student recruitment and retention strategies and resources.
  • Experience in public speaking.
  • Demonstrated success in fostering collaborative partnerships across departments.
