Position Summary:

Are you ready to be a vital person on our campus? The University of Wisconsin-Platteville seeks to fulfill temporary Barista opening. The barista promotes coffee consumption by preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, pastries, and other menu items. This position also assists in the care, cleaning, and stocking of café disposables, grab and go food items, and beverages.

This is a temporary position during the academic year (September through May) and is not benefit or leave eligible. Wage for this position is $17.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Produces and serves specialty hot and cold beverages according to specifications and/or customer customizations
  • Processes customer transactions by performing cashier duties
  • Maintains clean and organized workspaces, coffee machines, and equipment
  • Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Assists and guides student workers
  • Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food and beverage preparation and associated activities
  • Performs routine food preparation according to specifications
  • Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions as needed
  • Rotates and stocks supplies
  • Monitors & maintains accurate inventory levels
  • Additional duties as assigned

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Previous retail experience
  • Familiarity with phone/office/POS software
