Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Children's Center is accepting applications for a Lead Teacher position. This is a full-time position, offering an excellent employee benefit package. The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for toddler/preschool age children and supervising teacher assistants and student teachers. The position is also responsible for incorporating positive classroom management techniques; establishing and maintaining positive relationships with parents; and supporting center activities. 

Responsibilities:

The Children's Center teacher works as part of a team to deliver a developmentally appropriate curriculum for typically children ages two through four.  The teacher provides general supervision and management of children enrolled in his/her classroom.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and techniques of early childhood education
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Experience as a lead teacher of preschool children in a child care setting
  • Experience with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS)
  • Knowledge of Creative Curriculum and YoungStar.
